Free is one of those words that get overused in marketing and advertising. It stands to reason. Free is a powerful word. But it also makes for a skeptical public because we all know there is no “free lunch”.
When we talk about “free embroidery” at Thread Logic, that essentially means the cost to embroider your logo onto an item is included in the price of that item. That pricing method makes it much easier for customers to shop for logo apparel.
Some companies have two prices for logo embroidered polo shirts and one for the shirt and another for the logo embroidery. That is the traditional way of pricing logo apparel, but that does not mean it is the best way to price it.
By including the cost of embroidering the logo into the price of the item, customers can focus on what really matters when they are making a purchase-the item they are getting, how those items are going to be used and the presentation of their logo. Those are all very important considerations.
Not all embroidery companies do it this way. Many companies change the price of the item based on the logo. Under that system, the supplier most often calculates that cost based on the size and complexity of the logo.
The biggest disadvantage to a two pricing system is the need to calculate the cost of each logo to be embroidered. That means customers must get a quote from every company they wish to compare. That also means the embroidery company must also look at each logo and prepare a quote. That can be really time-consuming for both the customer and the company.
But at Thread Logic, we believe that including the embroidery cost in the price of the item is simpler and easier to understand for people making that purchase decision. In addition, by including the cost of embroidery in the item eliminates the need for a quote.
One of the other advantages to a free embroidery pricing strategy the pricing is more transparent and allows consumers to compare apples to apples. If embroidery shops are custom quoting the pricing to embroider the logo, it is difficult to know exactly how they arrived at that calculation. By eliminating that guesswork, it is much easier to compare different suppliers.
We implemented the cost of the logo embroidery into the price of the shirt almost from the day we started Thread Logic. And our customers love it. It is decreases the amount of time required for them to make a decision, is more transparent and reduces the need for multiple quotes.
